Thinking outside the box

Thinking out of the box is not an east task. As I’ve already told last time that I spoke about lateral marketing, not everybody knows how to give a chance to the madness.

But, What is Lateral Marketing? And What is think outside the box? 

Lateral marketing is a thought, a mindset. Is the way that marketers called to the new techniques for finding breakthorough ideas. At least, this is the meaning that Philip Kotler and Fernando Trías de Bes were given to lateral thinking, also known as creative thinking. 

Giov.corazzaWhen we are talking about thinking out of the box, we are talking about a metaphor that means to think differently. It means approaching problems in new, innovative ways; conceptualizing problems differently; and understanding your position in a way you’d never thought of before.

The easiest way to understand what means think outside the box is think different. If we continue doing the same that we always do, we are not thinking outside the box, if not inside.

How to do it? As somebody says, “you think outside the box when you’re removing yourself from any and all preconceived notions or ideas about how it has been done before”

Brainstorm, re-conceptualize the problem, daydream, pay attention to other’s people ideas or even give yourself some basic parameters may help you to think outside the box. 

Something that also inspires me to talk to you about this was the talk by Giovanni Corazza at TedxRoma:  How to get out of the box and generate ideas. 

In this talk, Giovanni Corazza tells us why go out of the box, how do we go out of the box, when is a good idea to think out of the box and much more.

Go out of the box is not  a luxury, is a necessity for us and for our dignity as humain beings. 

“For think out of the box we need to add something more, a little piece, something which goes beyonf the convergent information, something wrong, something absurd, something which apparenty is not relevant, something which takes us far. Divergent information to cross the borders within our minds. We need to be open-mindend and fluent, look for alternatives and not for the correct answer. We need to look the match between the new idea and our initial focus. Serendipity happens all the time.

Finally, I encourage you to listen to him and feel the power of lateral thinking. Enjoy it and don’t hesitate to thinking out of the the box! :)
